Memory Card, memory card 6 typs

Keeping computer data backup is a very important task.  If a business fails to back up data, it can lose work, waste the company's money and frustrate customers.  To avoid losing anything important, it is important to have a data backup.  People may need to back up a lot of important data and information.  They require a media or device to back up their information and data.

There have been many changes in the technology of keeping data backup in the last few years.  A few years ago, magnetic tapes were used for large backups and floppy disks were used for small backups.  Although it was easy to back up data from these storage devices, the chances of losing data were also high.  Hard work was required to keep the data backup safe.

But now times have changed.  There are many internal and external devices to store data backup. CD, DVD, Zip disk, memory stick and memory card are now used instead of backup media for data backup.  They fit easily into the slot of the device.

What is Memory Card

A memory card is a storage device used to store data and multimedia.  Memory card is a Permanent and Non Volatile storage.

That is, the data stored in it cannot be deleted until the user intentionally deletes the data, and the data stored in the memory card does not get erased even after the power supply is turned off.
Memory cards are used in small portable devices such as cameras, smart phones, etc.  Memory cards are also known as flash cards.  Memory card is a very useful storage device for keeping data backup.

Types of Memory Card

Whenever you go to buy memory card in the market, you get many types of memory cards.  There are many types of memory cards.  Some of which we will learn about the major types of memory cards in this article –

(SD card)

The full form of SD card is Secure Digital Card.  This is the most basic format of SD card.  Dimensions of a Standard SD are 32 Mm By 24 Mm By 2.1 Mm.  Its storage capacity is also up to 4 GB.

microSD Memory Card (MicroSD Memory Card)

As the name suggests, Micro SD Memory Cards are much smaller in size than the basic SD cards.  They are mostly used in portable devices like smartphones.

  (Secure Digital High Capacity Card)

The full form of SDHC Card is Secure Digital High Capacity Card.  SDHC was created for recording HD video and high resolution images.  It is used in many SD-Enabled devices.  Dimensions of SDHC are also similar to a basic SD card, but its storage capacity is more than 4GB.

(Micro Secure Digital High Capacity Card)

This is the new version of Micro SD card which was launched in 2007.  Its storage capacity can be up to 32 GB and data can be transferred at a speed of 10 MB per second.

 (Secure Digital Extended Capacity Card)

The full form of SDXC is Secure Digital Extended Capacity.  SDXC has a higher storage capacity than SDHC cards.  The storage capacity of SDXC cards can start from 64 GB and go up to a maximum of 2 TB.

(Micro Secure Digital Extended Capacity Card)

Like SDXC cards, the storage capacity of micro SDXC cards ranges from 32 GB to 2 TB.  The data transfer speed of Micro SDXC is higher as compared to Micro SD and Micro SDHC.  They are used only in devices that have a MicroSDXC-Compatible Slot.

 (Compact Flash Memory Card)

This type of memory card is larger in size than an SD card and has many more connections.  Compact flash cards are not commonly used as SD cards.  Some have very high storage capacity and some can run at very high speed.  These types of memory cards are generally used by professional photographers.

how does a memory card work

Memory card works on a flash memory, memory card is used to store any data.  In media storage, the memory card is completely different from other storage devices, it does not require any power to store and store any data.

 Advantages of memory card

There are many advantages of a memory card, some of which we have told you further –

Memory card is a non-volatile memory that can store data even after the power supply is turned off.

 Memory cards require less power.

Modern memory cards are smaller, lighter and have higher storage capacities.

Memory cards are highly portable.  You can take the card anywhere even after removing it from the device.

Memory cards have more storage capacity than older backup devices.

Memory cards do not make any noise while working

Memory cards come in all kinds of sizes.  64GB SD cards are the most common.
Memory cards can easily fit into memory card slots in various devices and can also be easily removed.

Memory cards can be used in various devices such as cameras, computers or mobile phones.

The cost of memory card is also not high, any person can easily buy and use the memory card.

Disadvantage of Memory Card

Where there is advantage, there is also disadvantage, you must have heard this.  Similarly, on one hand there are many advantages of memory card, while on the other hand it also has some disadvantages.  Some of the disadvantages of memory cards are as follows –

Lifespan or lifetime of the memory card is fixed.  Since memory card uses flash memory.  In this, the number of times that data can be written and deleted is limited (about 100,000 times).  This means that the Lifespan also gets reduced as the card is used.

The speed of the memory card is less as compared to the internal memory of the smartphone.

Memory cards are easily damaged, apart from this, if they are not kept safely, they are also lost due to their small size.

There is a problem of Electronic Corruption in the memory card.  Due to Electronic Corruption, the data stored in the memory card is completely destroyed because in such a situation the computer is not able to read them.
